The NASA Surface Biology and Geology team invites you to our 8th SBG Community Webinar on May 17th at 0800-0930 PDT/1100-1230 EDT.
The NASA Surface Biology & Geology team invites the science, applications and space-science communities to our sixth community webinar on 12 October 2021 at 0800 Pacific (1100 Eastern).
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is planning for the development or procurement of the SBG wide-swath visible-to-shortwave infrared (VSWIR) imaging spectrometer and thermal infrared (TIR) instruments for a spaceflight application.
This special collection focuses on tracing capability needs by the research and applications communities using visible-to-shortwave infrared (VSWIR) imaging spectroscopy and multispectral thermal infrared (TIR) remote sensing to an architecture for advancing the science of Earth surface biology and geology.
Our colleagues at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) are hosting a virtual workshop to “promote the use of hyperspectral data in various scientific and application domains and to increase the visibility of operational and next-to-come satellite missions, starting from the ASI’s PRISMA, pursuing the following objectives”.
Our colleagues at the German Space Agency (DLR) are hosting the first DESIS User Workshop to “to provide a platform for discussion and knowledge exchange related to spaceborne imaging spectroscopy with a focus on DESIS mounted on MUSES/ISS. [They] would like to get a feedback on your first experiences working with DESIS data.”
The NASA Earth Science Division is hosting a Decadal Survey Community Forum to “provide an update on the strategic implementation of the 2017 ESAS, with particular emphasis on the “new” program element identified as the Designated Observables (DOs). ESD is seeking new ways to leverage the work and ideas in the non-governmental/private sector to contribute possible approaches that may address the designated observables recommendations in the 2017 ESAS in order to increase mission/observing system capability and/or to reduce costs.”
New review paper summarizing existing hyperspectral and thermal algorithms across the Surface and Biology Geology Designated Observable thematic areas: snow/ice, aquatic environments, geology, and terrestrial vegetation
The NASA Applied Remote Sensing Training Program is hosting a series of online training webinars (Jan 19, Jan 26, and Feb 2) on using imaging spectroscopy to study land and coastal ecosystems.
The NASA Surface Biology & Geology team invites the science, applications and space-science communities to our fourth community webinar on February 18th at 1:00 PM Eastern.
The NASA Surface Biology & Geology team invites the science, applications and space-science communities to our fourth community webinar on February 18th at 1:00 PM Eastern.
Please join us at these exciting SBG-relevant AGU FM20 sessions.
The Surface Biology and Geology Study Team had a busy summer in many ways, successfully wrapping up the Architecture Assessment Phase (Phase 2) and presenting the candidate architecture and two alternatives to the community on July 14th and to NASA Headquarters on July 29th. Despite the challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the SBG team continued the series of planned mission design labs at Langley, Ames, Goddard, and JPL, engaging with the research and applications community, and coordinating with Headquarters and potential international partners to remain on a fast-paced schedule.
Spaceborne VSWIR data from the Italian PRISMA satellite (both archived and new acquisitions) opened to users last week.
